If you would like to claim any of your psychologist consults through Medicare, you’ll need to get a Mental Health Care Plan and referral letter from your GP. It’s simple:
1. Book an extended appointment time with your GP.
Getting a MHCP and referral letter will take on average 30-45 minutes, so you’ll need an extended appointment.
Note: If you have already seen a GP in person in the last 12 months, you may be able to get your MHCP and referral letter via telehealth)
2. Ask your GP to prepare a MHCP and referral letter for you.
In this letter they will need to confirm how many sessions you have.
