Mental Health Care Plans (MHCP) FAQs

What is a Mental Health Care Plan?

It is a document that your GP writes with you about treating a mental health condition. It identifies what type of health care you will require and details what you and your doctor have agreed you are aiming to achieve.

Do I need a Mental Health Care Plan to get treatment?

No, it is not needed to get treatment. We offer treatments with both counsellors and psychologists with or without a Mental Health Care Plan.

How do I get a Mental Health Care Plan?

You will have to obtain a Mental Health Care plan from your GP. Mosh at this time is not able to facilitate creating Mental Health Care Plans.

Is the price different if I don’t have one?

Yes, if you do not have a Mental Health Care Plan the price will be:

  • Counsellors - $65/session (note that Counsellors are not available to book with a MHCP)
  • Psychologist - from $150/session.
What if I don’t want to get a Mental Health Care Plan, or don’t have one?

No worries, you can book in with a counsellor for $65 or get a MHCP and upload it within 48 hours to claim back a through Medicare ($93.35 rebate for a registered psychologist, $137.05 rebate for a clinical psychologist). Medicare rebates are not available for counsellor appointments.
